In But Free (IBF) has been in existence for over 26 years. Since its inception, It has continued to provide evidence-based interventions for the better health and welfare of communities in Zambian correctional facilities with a focus on achieving full protection for inmates against HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and other associated infections and mental illnesses. 7th October, 2022 marked a very special and particular moment in the evolution of IBF. The launch of the Strategic Plan 2023-2027.This was the Third Strategic Plan developed by IN BUT FREE since its inception, in its efforts to serve communities in confinement better. The Plan, defined the direction that IBF was taking in the next five years.
The new plan signified a shift in IBF’s service delivery strategies and passion to serve with integrity, transparency, accountability and fairness. The Plan has been driven by a core message of challenging the triple sentence of confinement, inadequate health care and lack of sustainable livelihoods in Zambian Congregate Settings.
The vision in the new strategic plan is to be a model of excellence in health interventions and sustainable livelihoods for vulnerable populations in Zambian congregate settings.
The Strategic Plan charts out the IBF’s long term strategic goals for carrying out its mission of promoting health interventions, sustainable livelihoods and advocacy for vulnerable populations in Zambian congregate settings. It informs of the actions needed to be taken to actualize the undertakings as spelt out in the Strategy, which resonate well with the aspirations of the target populations.
The Strategic Plan is aligned to key policy instruments such as the recently developed 8th National Development Plan, Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s). A clear demonstration that the organisation was responsive to the dynamic changing needs of society.
